[S9E7]: An Open Relationship and a Not So Open Bar
The episode opens up with shots of Catalina Island. We see some of the women getting up and getting ready. Yvonne is in her suite with her daughter Asha, as she gets fitted in her dress.
The scene settles on Valentina as she walks into an elevator and goes up a floor. The camera follows her down the hallway of the hotel and she knocks on a door.
Valentina: “Marcie! It’s me, Val! Are you in there?” She knocks again.
“Look I am not a malicious bitch. My delivery was completely wrong with Marcie the other night…
I want to let her know how I am so sorry this has came to this. I’ve just got a lot going on in my own life that I didn’t even put Marcie’s feelings before my own.”
Inside of her room, Marcie stops packing and makes a face.
Marcie: “Yeah, I’m here!” She gets up.
We see Marcie and walk over to the door and open it.
Marcie: “Hi! Come in!” She steps aside. “Sorry for the shoes on the floor.” She laughs a bit.
Valentina: “Oh, you’re all good!”
Marcie leads Valentina into her room and the pair sit.
Marcie: “Want something to drink?”
Valentina: “I had a drink on the way up.” She deeply sighs. “I will however have some Pinot Grigio if you have some of that!”
Marcie nods and opens the refrigerator door and pulls out a bottle of wine. She pours two glasses and hands one to Valentina before sitting.
Marcie: “So how are you? Yesterday was…eventful.” She chuckles nervously.
Valentina: “It was definitely an eventful day. But it is always eventful in this group.” Her eyes widen and she takes a sip of wine. “But I wanted for you and I to have a chance to talk about what’s going on between us…”
The music picks up as Marcie narrows her eyes and looks at Valentina, she shakes her head.
Marcie: “Honestly I don’t want to hear your thoughts on my husband or my marriage anymore.” She holds her hand up.
Valentina sucks in her cheeks.
“Valentina made some MASSIVE accusations against Jonathon, and until she’s apologetic for how that affects me and my son, I want no more of this.”
Valentina: “Well I think we’ve beat that horse to death….” She sighs. “I really wanted to come and talk to you woman to woman about what really happened that day at Yvonne’s dinner. Look, I wasn’t being malicious when I said what I said at the table.” She holds her hands to her chest. “ You have to know that about me, but also my delivery was FUCKING horrible.”
We see Marcie nod along as she listens.
Marcie: “I appreciate… the intention, but you have to remember I have a business. Jon has a business, Mike is coming up through college and works for a major financial company.”
“Jonathon has a very profitable real estate agency in downtown Beverly Beach. It’s small, only 5 agents but they handle everything from corporate real estate to commercial property to private elite real estate. Some of the best Beverly Beach elite buy from Jonathon’s agents.”
Marcie: “These massive statements against Jonathon affect my entire life. Like every relationship, partnership, deal, agreement, gets affected by those kinds of allegations.”
Valentina: “I do get that, that’s why I’m here right now, expressing my extreme disappointment in myself.” She sighs and reaches over for Marcie’s hand. “I NEVER intended to bring out what happened that day at your house, but when you and Olivia and Serena were all pressuring me to talk about it, I felt like I had to defend myself.”
“Marcie is going on about Jonathon and his businesses but I don’t think she understands my family is a household name. So while her name carries weight in Beverly Beach I’m worldwide and I’m under a microscope at all times, how do you think it looks for me to be out and about with bruises on my arm.”
Valentina sighs and leans back in her seat.
Valentina: “Marcie — woman to woman. You know as well as I do that the scene that Jon caused at your house the other week was HORRIFIC! We were both scared.”
Marcie: “I feel AWFUL for that night I honestly do! Jonathon obviously wasn’t thinking right. I don’t know why he chose to act like that, but he obviously wasn’t in the right frame of mind! You can’t go around saying he’s beating the shit out of me though! I apologize for his behavior I do and he will as well when he gets the chance but you cannot make these heavyweight accusations. He was drunk and made a poor choice, but it is not indicative of a pattern!”
Valentina: “Marcie, look I’m just wanting to look out for you. In all seriousness. I know signs of abuse and you could tell the second he slung that door open that there was an energy shift. I shouldn’t have said he beat the shit out of you because you are right I don’t know if it’s a pattern. But if his behavior that day is any indication of how he is behind the doors. I couldn’t even imagine it.”
Marcie takes a deep breath.
Marcie: “Okay I don’t. This isn’t productive. I want to say.. I’m sorry for what happened that night. I’m so so sorry.” She looks distressed.
Valentina: “Marcie it isn’t for you to apologize for… You need to let your husband do that.”
Marcie: “Val, it’s fine. Really. I get it.” She smiles weakly at Valentina. “I don’t like where we’ve landed because of that night either. We used to hangout and talk all the time, shop once a week, get lunch. Since that night we’ve both been so distant, and I hate it. I’m sorry for that night genuinely.”
Valentina: “We did use to shop, eat, talk shit and all the other wonderful things that friends do and I feel like I’m the cause of the rift between us. So I want to apologize to you for my behavior lately. Since my mom has gotten to town my stress level has been at all time high, and now it’s affecting my marriage.”
Marcie makes a sad face.
Marcie: “Just…” She takes Valentina’s hand. “Fix your marriage before it ends up in the same place mine is heading. Fuck your mother!” She quickly realizes what she said and covers her mouth. “I’m so sorry for saying that — oh my God please bless me, but for your kids, you need to do what you have to do to make it work.”
“I feel awful hearing about Valentina.. it’s weird having our two marriages like this right now, but I know she’ll make it through. They will.”
Valentina grabs a tissue as she starts to cry.
Valentina: “My mom just triggers something in me…I don’t know if it’s all the childhood trauma that’s surfacing or I’m still angry what all she’s put me through.” She wipes her tears. “But it bleeds into my marriage and it has detrimentally impacted my marriage.”
“Look my mother was awful to me growing up. I was never pretty enough, never good enough. I just wasn’t her. But as I’ve gotten older and went to therapy I thought it helped me move past this but what it didn’t prepare me for was what I needed to do when these feelings resurface.”
Valentina: “Brandon won’t even stay at the house anymore and has just been taking more acting gigs further away. I just want to be the best mother and wife I can be to my family but lately I’ve felt like a failure.”
Marcie: “Valentina you have to get your mother out of your home. She’s causing all this dissension and resentment between Brandon and you what are you going to do if one day he doesn’t come back? Think of your marriage and your babies first. They want Brandon more than Grandma!”
Valentina: “The problem is, she’s having financial trouble and can’t really afford to live on her own right now. Plus I thought she had changed and in reality she even bigger monster now. I just want my mother to love me and not cause all this chaos in my life.”
Marcie: “Valentina I’m about to say something so cold.. then put her in a home and use the money from this to sustain her, because you cannot live in that toxic cycle of misery and abuse. It won’t just destroy your marriage eventually it’ll destroy you.” She frowns.
“Valentina doesn’t realize the affect she’s putting on her own mental health, and I want her to remember she has two kids to raise. She can’t also raise an old woman who never left her 20s.”
Valentina: “You know Marcie, you’re right, I can’t do this forever and I’m not my mother’s keeper. When we get back you and I should go look for her an apartment, I’m sure Brandon would love a tax write off, and probably his bed back.” She laughs and downs her glass of wine. “I am glad I have you to vent to. It’s been hard keeping this tough exterior up.”
Marcie smiles and gets up to hug Valentina.
Marcie: “Let’s just.. do better to support one another and when we’re not sure how to say things let’s talk on the side.” She gives Valentina a long embrace and rubs her back.
Valentina: “I agree. I really am sorry Marcie. I can see that I really hurt you.” She sniffles. “Let’s make a pact to just not hurt each other and be considerate of what each other is going through. I love you!”
Marcie: “Deal! I love you too.”
The scene fades as the two women continue to hug.
The scene opens up with shots of Yvonne’s wedding ceremony. We see all of the attendees standing as Yvonne walks down the aisle slowly.
We see Valentina turning to watch her.
“Listen when Yvonne is happy she is at her best so her marrying Horace makes her a happier woman so therefore I am here today to celebrate her and Horace. They really do deserve love and each other!”
Violette: “She looks absolutely breathtaking! Oh my gosh!” She whispers to Serena.
Serena: “Agreed!”
“ I am so excited for my girl Yvonne! The fact that she is finding true love.. again, means that love does exist. And your true partner will always find you.”
We see Victoria clutching a tissue and pointing to Yvonne aggressively multiple times as she makes her way to the alter.
Victoria: “You better wear that dress gawt damnitttt!”
The camera nows pans to Monsè who wipes a tear.
“I’m so happy for Yvonne! It’s always amazing to see love win. She deserves all the happiness in the world, even if she’s always at my throat.” She laughs.
Olivia and Marcie stand next to eachother, arms linked and both have huge smiles on their faces.
“Being here today is so meaningful! Love is such an amazing thing and this is going to be such a blissful experience forever to be remembered!”
We now see Yvonne up at the alter with Horace and the officiant. Her family surrounds her including her daughter Asha and son Alonzo. We hear the couple exchange vows and the crowd erupts into applause and they make their way back down the aisle, now holding hands.
“We did it!” She flashes her ring. “ I am now officially Mrs. Horace Edwards again. Will I be changing my name? No. Do I still love him? Of course!”
There is a cool transition as we now see the guests arriving at the open air reception on the property of the resort. We see the DJ, the beautiful tables, and the bar. It is now in the middle of the reception as people eat, dance, and talk.
The scene settles on the table that Monsè, Valentina, and Violette are sat at.
Violette: “Did you girls enjoy the wedding?” She looks around the table.
Monsè: “It was really touching. But I’m just glad I got an invite in the first place, chile.” She chuckles.
Valentina: “That was such a beautiful ceremony. I’m glad you came I know you were hesitant at first but all in all aren’t you glad you came, Monsè?”
Monsè smiles and nods.
Violette: “Plus, we all look great tonight!”
Valentina: “No one here can say we’re ugly.” She shakes her head and laughs.
Monsè: “Right?! Thanks again for letting borrow your glam today, Val. You’re a life saver!”
Valentina: “You know whatever is mine girl, is yours!”
Monsè: “Girl, careful I might take you up on that!”
We see Violette chatting with another woman at their table, the camera zooms in on Valentina and Monsè talking.
Valentina: “But really, I was surprised Robin and Davie didn’t come on the trip, you always use them for events?” She furrows her brow.
Monsè shifts a bit in her seat and then clears her throat.
Monsè: “Well, uh, I had to put my glam team on pause for a bit. Just… some personal things that came up with them.” She shrugs and sips her drink.
Valentina tilts her head, she looks slightly confused.
Valentina: “Well what’’s going on? Are you good? You know I got you, girl.”
Monsè: “Yeah, yeah totally fine! Gil is just being a hardass and wants to focus on building Bastien’s college fund. That man is no fun!” She forces a smile.
Valentina: “Okay, good.” She smiles and pats her friend’s hand.
“The cash flow isn’t what it used to be with the company going through a recession, so the DeRosiers are cutting back. And sadly that means bye-bye glam. But I’m not broadcasting that to the girls though hunni, this is a rough crowd!”
Monsè and Valentina turn back to Violette.
Monsè: “This reception is nice as well!”
Violette: “Yes, but I did have a question, though.” She twirls her hair and looks at the pair. “I’m not trying to be bitchy or anything but — did you two notice that the beer and wine is free but we have to pay for the hard stuff?” She raises and eyebrow. “I’ve never been to a wedding where you have to pay for your drinks? Is that like an American thing?”
We get shots of some of Yvonne’s guests taking out their credit cards at the bar.
Monsè: “As a last-minute guest I wasn’t gonna say anything but…” She raises her wine glass and sips from it.
Violette: “Oh? You didn’t want to pay either?” She raises her wine glass.
The girls laugh and Violette and Monsè clink their wine glasses together.
“It is a bit ODD to me that someone like Yvonne comes from old money and she’s making her guest pay for alcohol. Is she maybe struggling for cash? The wedding was exquisite so maybe that left her strapped for cash? Who knows. It’s just not a good look. It looks very cheap.”
Valentina: “Yvonne and I are building a new friendship but, yeah. I’m a little disappointed they didn’t have an open bar, especially since I see some of this stuff is sponsored…”
The camera pans to a sign in the floral decorations that is promoting a business. It then pans to the wine bar in the reception that has a local Beverly Beach vineyard’s logo all over the bar and bottle and their workers in company polos are pouring the wine.
Monsè: “It’s the principle! I am surprised though Yvonne wouldn’t go all to pull out all the stops to show off her relationship.” She shrugs. “Maybe the Langley’s are cutting back too.”
Valentina: “Well this is like their second or third time tying the knot, no? I mean maybe they found out the first time they didn’t need to spend all that money?”
Violette: “I thought she came from money? That’s what I’ve been told. So it is kind of weird that we have to pay for liquor, but… oh well.” She laughs. “I’m not paying any money on alcohol if I’m a guest.”
Valentina: “Well you know money talks and bullshit walks…” She laughs and digs around in her purse and pulls out a couple of shooters. “You girls want anything from my purse bar? This isn’t my first rodeo.”
Monsè: “And this is why I love you! Pour it up, bitch!” She laughs and empties her water cup, handing it to Valentina.
Violette: “Sure, I’ll make myself a vodka soda.” She smiles and passes over her cup.
As Valentina makes the ‘Wives drinks, she looks up at Violette.
Valentina: “Let’s just keep this little conversation amongst us girls! We were just having a little girl talk!”
Violette: “Well, I’d certainly hope this conversation would stay between us. I’ve already been thrown under the bus with this group of girls.” She laughs. “ But, I’m learning the ropes! The chatter stops here, with me. Don’t worry, Val.” She winks at Val.
Valentina: “Well I know Monsè and I can cuss and discuss all day and it not leave the room ever.”
Monsè: “My lips are sealed.” She pretends to zip her lips.
Valentina turns back to Violette.
Valentina: “I’m still getting to know you but I like you, and you’re hot so I’m warming up to you!”
Violette: “Cheers to that, bitch!” She clinks her glass with Valentina.
“Look Violette and I had a rocky start but I like the woman. She is beautiful, and she seems to have a brain of her own so that makes me like her so much more already. Plus I can tell she has a wild side to her that she has yet to show!”
Valentina: “ I need to go find a dance floor and grab another bottle from my room! Do we get to party like the married couple does tonight?” She gets up.
Monsè: “Chile, the married couple is probably going to sleep at 10pm. Go get that bottle, we’re going out on the town, girls! Woohoo!”
We now see that Horace and Yvonne are cutting the cake at the reception.
After the cake is done being handed out the camera pans over to Olivia, Serena, and Marcie chatting at a table with one another.
We see Yvonne coming over with a plate of cake.
Marcie: “Hey Yvonne!”
Serena: “Ahhh hey cutie pie! Everything is so beautiful! And you are stunning!” She hugs her.
Olivia: “How lovely the wedding was!” She smiles and gives her a hug as well.
Yvonne: “Thank you, thank you! Can I sit?”
The ‘Wives pull over a seat for Yvonne.
Yvonne: “What are you ladies talking about?”
Marcie: “Just how gorgeous everything was! How you could just feel the love in the room! Everything honestly!”
Yvonne: “Well how are you feeling? Are you good with everyone?” She looks at Marcie.
Marcie: “Oh yeah.. honestly me and Valentina had a super healing conversation this morning. We really both went in knowing we had to had a rough conversation and it went more smoothly than I anticipated it going.” She smiles.
Yvonne: “I did not want the two of you at the same table for this because of how vulgar she was.” She shakes her head. “I think saying that Jon beats you was completely out of line and I’m glad the two of you have clarity to move on.”
Marcie: “I made her kind of, take that back. It was unfounded obviously.”
Olivia: “Right…” She side eyes Marcie.
Yvonne: “We just want to make sure you’re good Marcie, you have us to lean on.”
Serena: “We’re here to help you with anything.”
Marcie: “Thank you girls, I appreciate it.” She smiles. “I’m good.”
Yvonne: “I need to go make the rest of my round! Thank you all for coming, see you back in The Beach!”
The scene fades as we see Yvonne and Horace in the middle of a dance circle, having a great time.
Shots of Beverly Beach appear on the screen.
First we see Marcie in Beverly Blowout doing a clients hair. Olivia is taking golfing lessons from her husband Brandon and son Raul at the Beverly Bluffs Country Club. We get iPhone footage of Yvonne and Horace on their honeymoon in the Maldives. The scene settles on a cute nail salon.
Valentina steps out of her car and struts in.
“Whew! The wedding festivities are over and this momma is wore smooth out! Yvonne looked absolutely beautiful and I was happy to have been there to truly support someone I’m building a friendship with.” She smiles. “With all that being said, I’m glad Serena suggested a self-care date to go get our nails done when we got back, it’s always a good time when I link up with my girl, Serena!”
As Valentina looks through the nail polish colors, Serena walks in.
Serena: “Heyyyy babygirl!” She hugs Valentina. “How are you?”
Valentina: “You look beautiful, as always. I’m doing well, still recovering…” She removes her sunglasses. “I’m going to get these bags taken care of after this.” She laughs and points to her face.
Serena: “Girllll, you look fine! But I feel you, Catalina took it out of me!”
“I love hanging with Val. She’s actually becoming one of my favorite people…who would have thought?!” She shakes her head. “Today, I actually have some some exciting news to share with her as well. So I’m just going to get my nails done and have a chat session with my good sis!”
Both women pick out their nail polish and go and sit at the nail bar as their technicians begin doing their nails.
Serena: “So what’s been going on with you, boo?”
Valentina: “Oh my God, just work non stop! My dance studio is just booming! You know I love to talk business with you, we’ve got NFL cheerleading tryouts coming up in the next few weeks that I’ve been having to work overtime to prepare the girls for them!”
Serena: “Come on! I’m sure some of your girls will get a spot with the Rams or maybe the Raiders, I’ve seen them dance.”
Valentina: “Thank you, thank you. So, what’s been going on with you and the salon? Do we have any high profile celebrities in the chair this week?”
Serena: “The salon has been doing really good. I’ve been focusing on my line of extensions and also just doing private gigs. Actually, speaking of high profile celebrities…I have a question.” She looks at Valentina.
Valentina: “Oh, what’s the question!?”
Serena: “Do you think you could come with me to an event I am doing a celebrity’s makeup for? She smirks.
Valentina: “I absolutely would love to and see the behind the scenes! Can I ask who we are servicing that’s high profile? And what is this event?”
Serena: “Doja Cat! We’re going to Coachella babes!” She squeals.
Valentina: “OH MY GOD SERENA DIANNE! This is MAJOR!”
Serena: “I know, I know!” She nods with excitement. “I got the call from her agent the day we got back from Catalina.”
Valentina: “This is going to be really cool! Also, I’m just excited to go to Coachella! I went as a teenager and early adult before it became so mainstream! This will be so much fun! So who all is going?”
Serena: “I was actually going to just invite you and Violette. I don’t think it the other girl’s vibes.” She shrugs. “I think it’ll be good for us to bond and really let our hair down for a weekend.”
“I think Violette and Val are the perfect girls to go to Coachella with! I mean Val and I twerked on a dinner for God sakes.”
As the nail techs begin putting on the women’s top coats; Valentina takes a sip of her complementary champagne and looks over at Serena.
Valentina: “ I do have a slight request….Like you said, this could be a good bonding moment!” She nods. “It’s a great group already with you, me, and Violette but I just want to see about maybe extending the invite to another lady…”
Serena: “I think I can guess who that might be…” She side eyes Valentina and sips her champagne.
Valentina: “Monsè is my girl! She is always a good time especially when you get her out and away from the group! Plus who will want to fight at Coachella?!”
The camera pans to Serena who makes a face and raises her eyebrow.
Serena: “Ehhh I don’t know…she and I are not that close to be on a weekend long trip together.”
“Val loves letting Messy Monsè tagalong!” She rolls her eyes.
Valentina: “Oh come on, it could be a great bonding experience for us all. I mean after all we are probably the four that can turn up and turn out a place!” She snaps then smiles. “Pleaseeee?”
We see Serena consider it for a minute before she let’s out a sigh.
Serena: “Okay…but if anything goes wrong, I’m blaming you!! And I’m going to be upset with you.”
Valentina: “Yay!” She grins and does a little clap.
“Look some might say I’m Monsè’s campaign manager but really that girl has shown up for me and had my back many times. It’s only fair I return the favor when I can. She means well! Truly, she does!”
Valentina: “ I promise if you let me bring Monsè I will make sure she behaves, because this is a big moment for you and I want it to be perfect. Since you got us the tickets I’ll fire up the private jet and we can land just straight into Coachella. No sense in having to drive if we don’t have to!”
Serena: “Come on private jet! I just love you.” She laughs. “So, I’m trusting you.”
Valentina: “I do want to know though, where did you and Monsè go wrong?”
Serena: “Monsè is messy, period. When you and I had that issue last year, Monsé was on your bandwagon and didn’t one time try to hear my side. At the reunion, she was trying so hard to just lie to me and on me. And now that you and I are good she thinks I’m just automatically going to forgive her. It doesn’t work that way ma’am.” She shakes her head vigorously.
Valentina: “Look, I don’t think it’s nothing we can’t resolve Serena, I mean my God — if we can make up I think you two definitely can! I think you both are valid in feeling the way you do about each other but I honestly love you and Monsè and I want my girls in a peaceful place! I think talking and clearing the air would be a good move.”
Serena: “I would love to talk to her! She just has to be willing to be honest. That’s all” She shrugs.
Valentina: “I think she will for some Coachella tickets!” She laughs. “I kid I kid, she’ll come with an open heart and mind as should you! I think me you, Monsè and Violette could become the next core four!”
Serena: “Come on core four! We will see, honey.” She laughs. “Let’s go eat now!”
Valentina: “Yes you know I love a mani pedi and some lunch! Let’s go, my bongos girl!”
The ladies laugh and the scene ends as we get one last exterior shot of the nail salon.
The scene opens up with Olivia pulling up with Marcie in her Rolls Royce infront of a luxury apartment complex.
Marcie: “Okay, now you have to tell me where we’re going! We’re here?” She looks out the window, confused.
Olivia: “Just go with it, love.” She winks and gets out of the car.
Marcie: “Oh?”
Olivia and Marcie walk into the lobby together. They are met by a relator in the lobby.
Realtor: “Hello ladies, I am Tom Brown. I’m here to show you around the unit you inquired about, Olivia.”
Olivia: “Great!” She smiles.
Tom leads Olivia and Marcie into the elevator. On the 22nd floor, they get off and Tom opens up the apartment.
Tom: “This is a beautiful two bedroom, two and a half bath unit. Signing at the building also comes with all of the amenities you can think of; Parking, gym, spa, nail salon…”
There is a montage as Tom walks them through the apartment.
Tom: “Okay ladies, I’ll give you some time to discuss. I’ll be out on the balcony.” He smiles and walks out.
Marcie and Olivia take a seat at the granite island.
“I love real estate.. but I’m not exactly in the market so I’m not really sure what we’re doing here.”
Marcie: “This aparment is really nice! Are you looking to get a second place, or a place for Luis and Raul?” She raises an eyebrow.
Olivia: “I was actually thinking it might be perfect for…you.”
Marcie: “For me? Oh! I! Oh!” She looks caught off guard.
Olivia: “Yes, I think with you and Jon’s marital issues — you need to be working on an exit plan, my love.” She frowns a bit.
Marcie: “Oh! Issues!” She looks flushed.
“With Marcie’s marital issues, I think it’s best she looks for somewhere else to move away from her soon to be ex husband — especially after the alleged abuse that he put Valentina through.”
Marcie: “Olivia, babe, I don’t think they’ll get bad enough to lead to that! I.. I don’t know though.” She bites her lip.
Olivia: “I mean — are you two doing any better?”
Marcie: “He’s.. been avoiding me. I think he’s resentful over the therapy. Maybe the Valentina.. argument.”
Olivia: “Well I mean he did assault her — right?”
Marcie clears her throat and just looks down at the island.
Marcie: “Are these counters granite or marble?”
Olivia: “I’m not a realtor hun but I am your friend — what’s going on?” She looks at Marcie, concerned.
“I ask Marcie every other business day what is going on in her marriage. Something is amiss and I won’t stop riding her about it until she tells me the truth!”
Marcie: “Jon just.. isn’t treating me with respect or any care in the world honestly.” She lets out a deep sigh. “I don’t know why. I don’t know if it’s an affair or something worse he won’t discuss but he barely speaks to me when he’s home.” She shakes herself.
Olivia: “Oh, honey…”
Marcie: “He’ll lock himself away.” She begins tearing up. “He won’t talk he’s just.. distant.” She stops and sniffles. “I don’t know what’s wrong honestly.”
Olivia: “It’s toxic and it’s time for you to walk away from that miserable relationship. You’ve aged 10 years in the past two months because of how he’s treating you. Wake up and respect yourself, Marcie.”
Marcie gasps.
“I’ve tried the supportive friend route but tough love seems to be needed here.”
Marcie: “We’re — We’re going to therapy…I just want to give it some time. We’re taking the first steps.”
Olivia sighs.
Olivia: “Okay well maybe you can gain some mental clarity with some time away….because I’m taking you and the other girls to Paris for Fashion Week!”
Marcie: “FASHION WEEK?!”
Olivia: “Yes! My latest line will be featured on the runway! I am almost completely done with it and am ready to hit the fashion scene again with my latest creations!”
Marcie: “Oh my god Olivia.. OH MY GOD OLIVIA!!! WE’RE GOING SHOPPING AAAAAA!”
Olivia laughs.
Olivia: “I hope the women can behave! I plan on inviting you, Yvonne, Monse, Val, Violette, and Selena!”
Marcie: “I’ll behave! I’ll sit and cross my legs and wait to be handed a Birkin!” She grins.
The scene ends with a shot of Olivia and Marcie sitting at the kitchen island.
The scene begins as we see a large warehouse.
Inside, a big crew is shooting on a movie set. The camera pans to behind the scenes where Monsè is walking with a Production Assistant in the nearly empty craft services area.
Monsè: “Where is the catering? That was supposed to be out before anyone showed up on set. Dear god, go figure it out please!”
“Today, I invited Violette out to show her a day in the life of Monsè! I also have a little explaining to do after that brunch fiasco, so hopefully lawyer Violette doesn’t make an appearance and bite my head off.” She laughs.
We now see Violette being led over to Monsè by another P.A.
Violette: “Hey Mon chèri!” She kisses both of her cheeks.
Monsè: “Hey cutie! Look at this outfit! I may have to call you back to do costuming on the next project!” She laughs
Violette: “So this is new! This is what you get into?” She looks around the set in amazement.
Monsè: “Yes! Thank you for coming, by the way. I just wanted to give you a behind the scenes look since all of the ladies think I don’t work.” She winks and chuckles.
Monsè leads Violette over by the cameras to watch as the crew begins to shoot a scene.
“I’m happy Monsè invited me out to see her at work. I’ve never really gotten to see behind the scenes of a set before! Also, it’ll be nice to kind of talk with her. I’m still a bit annoyed with her from the things she mentioned while we were in Catalina Island so I think a one on one girls chat is needed.
As the scene wraps, a P.A. brings over Monsè and Valentina coffee; the ‘Wives thank her.
P.A.: “Oh! Also, The food just got here, Monsè.”
Monse: “Perfect!” She smiles and then turns to Violette. “Wanna take a step outside real quick? The crew is going to break for a quick lunch…”
Violette: “Oh, sure.” She smiles.
Monsè leads Violette out a door and seconds later they are standing in the sunny backlot behind the sound stage.
Monsè: “Well, first I just wanted to apologize for bringing up the whole open relationship thing at brunch... I really was trying to help but doing that in the group setting was totally my bad. Not cool of me at all.” She shakes her head.
Violette takes a long sip of her coffee before responding.
Violette: “I appreciate that.” She nods. “ But, I will say… it was very off based and kind of callous of you to even say. Like where would you even get such fatuous things?”
Monsè: “It didn’t come out of nowhere, I swear — “
Violette: “Okay so then you mentioned rumors circulating about me and my fiancé? What are those rumors? Where have they been said? Who’s saying them?” She moves her sunglasses to her forehead.
“I can be a bit intense when it comes to my relationship. I am usually all warm and fuzzy and like a butterfly. But, I think the better way to describe me would be a bumblebee. Cute to look at, until you fuck with me and then I’ll sting you.”
We get a shot of Monsè with her eyes wide.
“Whew… I would hate to get cross examined on the stand by this girl.”
Monsè: “I heard from a friend that Jean Luc and Brandon were out one night and he was flirting with somebody a close friend of mine knows — saying he wanted to spend the night with her and take her out and that his fiancè wouldn’t care because you two are in an open relationship. Nothing happened, but I just wanted you to know what Jean-Luc was going around telling people in Beverly Beach!”
Violette cocks her neck in disbelief.
Violette: “Well, I find that to be false. I just think it’s odd to me that anyone besides myself would know anything about my relationship. I have been with Jean Luc for over 10 years. We are rock solid.” She crosses her arms.
“I can’t even believe the things I’m hearing right now. Do I believe Jean Luc would cheat on me? No. Do I think he entertained another woman and led her to believe he was single?” She pauses. “That…that I’m not sure about.”
Violette: “For you to even repeat or bring up in front of everyone, even insinuating that he’d cheat on me and bring this negative connotation about my relationship is very disrespectful to me.” She look at Monsè, upset.
Monsè: “It just really hurt my heart because you seemed so excited about your relationship. I couldn’t imagine you’d be happy with an arrangement like that.” She frowns.
Monsè: “We were building a friendship! I promise I would never do this to hurt you. I really, truly was just trying to give you a heads up but I see now that it could have been dealt with away from the group.” She nods. “I don’t want you to get hurt and I want you to hear the full story so you can decide what to do with your relationship — I can even set up a meeting with the girl. She can tell you everything herself.”
Violette: “I’m skeptical about all of this, honestly. I do not want to meet up with anyone until I discuss this with Jean Luc.”
Monsè: “I understand, and just to be clear so I have everything correct — you’re not in an open relationship then? No other men and women in the Beauchamp bedroom?” She raises an eyebrow.
Violette scoffs at Monsè.
Violette: “No. We do not have an open marriage not that it is any of your business.”
Monsè: “Okay, message received.” She holds her hands up.
Violette: “I’m going to have to talk with Jean Luc about this. This is really just asinine.” She looks upset.
Monsè: “If you ever do want the truth, let me know and I can give you her number. I really do want you to happy, Violette. I’m sorry if I went about this the wrong way.”
Violette: “Well, I appreciate that. Thank you for having this conversation with me.”
Monsè: “Of course! Thank you for listening. Can we make up now?” She smiles.
Violette: “We’ll see.” She chuckles a bit and extends her hand for a handshake.
“I do feel like I may have to watch my back with Monsè a little bit. She’s definitely on my hit list.” She laughs. “I got my eye on you bitch! Sucks for her too. I am a great friend to have. I would have gotten her out of those cheap Rue21 outfits she tends to wear. Tragic.” She shrugs.
The scene ends with Monsè and Violette going their separate ways as Monsè goes back on set and Violette walks the alleys of the back lot.
